Fromm Drive
Bingham Farms, Michigan 2010
The house was designed as one-story to be nestled into its site which sits adjacent to an environmental center. It was required by zoning that all water remain on the property, so the house is surrounded by a stone ‘river’ to collect rainwater and direct it to a catch basin at the front of the property derived from Japanese stone gardens. The butterfly roof allows water to drain at just two points into rain barrels below.
A greenhouse accessible from the kitchen provides produce year-round for the client who is considered a wonderful chef. A professional pizza oven is designed as a focal point in the open and light-filled living, dining, and kitchen space.
